As Feature Engineer, you would be responsible for the development and delivery of the end-to-end diagnosis and repair process and technician experience for a specific feature(s) or systems. Make sure that the end-to-end diagnosis and repair plans are agreed and enable a fast and effective vehicle diagnosis and repair with a technician focused approach for retailer technicians. You will also be key stakeholder for the overall service strategy and be the voice of Service, Diagnosis and Repair (SDR) in commodity strategy reviews (CSR) and Bill of Design (BOD) reviews within Product Engineering.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Lead the development and publishing of the end-to-end diagnosis and repair plans and information within TOPIx.
  • Provide input into the SDR discussions across the wider technical service, customer service and parts teams within commercial.
  • Establish support plans for the delivery of the end-to-end diagnosis and repair plans to the appropriate program milestones (typically TT and Job#1).
  • Act as the service contact at various engineering escalation meetings for issue resolution and diagnostic status updates.
  • Works with PE on new vehicle features/systems. Make sure PE understand the repair and diagnostic standards/ requirements that enable the new feature/system to be diagnosed efficiently in the retailer.
  • Review e.g. Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Service Bill of Material (SBOM) to confirm full end to end diagnosis and repair plans are correct and aligned. Develop close working relationships with PE teams for future on-board/off-board diagnostic capability.
  • Lead validation and identify process improvements on current published procedures for diagnosis or software issues.
  • Progress the creation of service standards and requirements for service for a given unit(s).
  • Provide input to complex customer cases using diagnostic specialised skills to interpret data and improve the overall technician experience and Right First Time (RFT) repair.
  • Liaise with Customer Service Quality (CSQ) team to create technical fixes for vehicle concerns by being the single point of contact for support issues within the SDR feature team for your feature(s).
  • Assist the development and provide feedback on Part II specifications and FTAs (i.e. Attendance of PE workshops, supplier reviews, sign-offs events). Develop or revise service standards to make sure feedback and lessons are learnt for future vehicle programs.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED
  • Proven track record of delivery of Customer focused approach to technical issue resolution
  • Academic degree within engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in reviewing and interpreting complex situations to develop a diagnosis and repair approach
  • Ability to explain and push a strategy for diagnosis/repair to get stakeholder agreement
  • Knowledge and experience in how to write and adapt diagnosis and repair information e.g. FMEA for vehicle feature(s), including using vehicle data to author diagnostic routines
  • Whole vehicle knowledge, a good working knowledge of vehicles and vehicle systems and an understanding of the latest vehicle technologies
  • Ability to author diagnostic applications in OTX format
  • Understanding of franchised retailers, their needs and drivers
  • Automotive serviceability knowledge
  • UK Driving licence
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
