WHAT TO EXPECT

The role is to deliver off-road and all-road features. This involves taking them from a very high-level concept to first implementation. It will be a blend of technical knowledge and metric development, process development and overall project management. Alongside day-to-day development of features the role includes long-term strategy of off-road and all-road features, demonstration events to members of the boards and innovation to yield the next generation of features.

To provide test engineer support to the Feature delivery team by assisting with test planning, vehicle preparation, virtual and physical testing, data evaluation. You will also be responsible for providing data to support the validation the various features such as Driver mode, Wase Sense and Off-Road Cruise Control and be able to independently plan and coordinate these activities with support from the Product Owner

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

- Delivery of systems within Chassis Attribute Team across the range of JLR vehicles

- Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements

- Contribute to the delivery of the area onto all programmes, in line with the Systems Engineering discipline outlined by Product Creation Systems

- Provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected features including issue resolution and objective data analysis

- Work with Technical Specialists and Research Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance

- Setting targets for sub-system groups and target negotiation / attribute balancing as necessary.

- Validating requirements as defined by TRM/ JIRA/ X-Ray

- Delivering the defined test plan for on and off-road testing and maintain overall target spend against budget.

- Working with CoCs and other PATs to validate the characteristics that deliver desired performance.

WHAT YOU NEED

Essential:

  • Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
  • Good understanding and experience using customer requirement and targets management systems
  • Good verbal and written communications
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly self-motivated engineer with proven inter-personal communication/ networking skills.
  • Proven project and time management skills and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrable team working, organisational and budget skills.
  • Demonstrating a robust scientific approach with knowledge of design of experiments.
  • Problem solving and use on DMAIC toolset.
Desirable:
  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
  • Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody
  • Experience in IBM Rational DOORS
