Finance & Administration Officer

to help manage our day-to-day financial activity and keep our operations running smoothly.

About the role



This is a varied part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys finance, organisation, and being at the centre of how a small charity operates. You will manage our financial systems (SAGE), support the administrative needs of the team, help maintain the office environment, and act as a key point of contact for staff, partners, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities



Finance



Process financial transactions using SAGE Accounts Online Maintain income & expenditure records, ledgers, and budgets Support the Charity Director with forecasts and monitoring Prepare supplier payments, staff expenses and petty cash Assist external accountants with year-end and statutory returns Monitor grant expenditure and restricted funds

Administration



Provide day-to-day administrative support to the office and activity team Maintain data, records, databases, and office systems Manage equipment inventories, ordering and stock control Organise and minute meetings, including trustee meetings Support DBS checks, vehicle bookings and maintenance schedules Coordinate ICT issues with external providers

Communication



Act as first point of contact for enquiries Liaise with staff, trustees, member clubs and service providers Maintain email systems, calendars, and (where possible) website/social media Prepare newsletters and general communications

What we're looking for



Essential



2+ years experience using SAGE or similar 2+ years experience in finance/accounts Strong administrative and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) Excellent organisational, communication and customer-service skills Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines Full driving licence and access to a car

Desirable



Experience in the charity or voluntary sector AAT Level 3 or equivalent Experience using Canva or cloud-based tools (e.g. Monday.com)

Hours, Pay & Benefits



Actual Pay:

(20 hrs: 13,867-14,933)

Hours:

20 hours per week (over 4 days) - flexible working

Contract:

Permanent (subject to funding)

Probation:

6-month performance review

Location:

Lancaster (with occasional local travel)

Holidays:

24 days + bank holidays (pro-rata) - flexible working considered

Pension:

3% employer contribution (optional)

Standard DBS check required (paid for by LABGC)
