Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth operation at the counter. The ideal candidate will have experience in a restaurant or food service environment, with a passion for delivering quality service and maintaining high standards of food safety. Duties

Serve customers promptly and courteously at the counter, taking orders and processing payments accurately Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items meet quality and safety standards Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while maintaining customer satisfaction Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area, including sanitising surfaces and utensils Handle cash transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during shifts Provide information about menu items and special offers to customers Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when required

Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred, especially in serving or counter roles Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices Basic maths skills for handling cash and processing transactions accurately Experience in food preparation or culinary roles is advantageous Strong time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a friendly demeanour Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude Organised with attention to detail to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met consistently
