The Front of House (FoH) Duty Manager and Volunteer Coordinator will help form part of a dynamic team who provide an excellent visitor experience. Working as part of a team of three Duty Managers, you will be jointly responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of all public-facing activities. You will be responsible for line managing FoH and/or retail assistants. You will manage the rota, database, training and liaison of our team of volunteers. As a team, you will be responsible for compliance at Gainsborough's House working closing with colleagues in facilities management and curatorial. You will provide a warm and welcoming greeting, helping visitors to the museum to orientate themselves and generally give them the information they need to ensure they have an enjoyable and memorable visit. You must excel at engaging with people and be friendly, professional and enjoy working directly with the public. You will be responsible for evacuation procedures; and will be trained as a first aider and fire marshal.
Main Duties and Activities
Responsible for managing the public facing aspects of day-to-day operations delivering exceptional customer service.
Manage (as part of the rota) the selling of entrance tickets and processing Gift Aid using the EPOS till and obtaining a detailed knowledge of the till system including cashing up procedures.
Being responsible and coordinating the team in looking after Gainsborough's House, and security in unlocking/locking the house and galleries.
Planning and overseeing the volunteer rotas to ensure adequate coverage for the museum's requirements and being the main point of contact for communication with all volunteers.
Managing recruitment, training and induction of volunteers.
Being responsible and caring for the safety and well-being of our visitors. Providing a warm, friendly and confident welcome to every visitor.
Actively engage with the daily calendar for VIPs, groups, schools, workshops.
Being a Fire Marshal and First Aider and to be confident in responding to an emergency situation. (Training will be given).
Be responsible/supervise visitor facing staff and volunteers and be the point of contact for the Print Workshop and the Cafe during open times.
Making sure Gainsborough's House is accessible to all visitors and offering accessibility facilities when needed.
Managing compliance with incident reporting, Health and Safety and first aid.
Understanding Gainsborough's House mission, have a working knowledge of the importance of Thomas Gainsborough, our displays and exhibitions.
Detailed knowledge of our membership and packages and the benefits associated with each level, to recruit and process new members, and to answer existing member queries and questions.
Working with our Learning Team, welcoming groups and schools, and helping with the requirements of their visit.
Coordinating and booking group visits, liaising with organisers and helping to plan their time with us
Following security procedures to help protect the interiors and collection during opening hours and ensuring visitors' safety by actively helping to evacuate during an emergency.
Other
Complying with Gainsborough's House policies and procedures and reporting any concerns to an appropriate person
Assisting with staffing of events
Acting as an Ambassador for Gainsborough's House whilst on duty
Other related tasks as deemed appropriate
