LinkAble is a small and growing Woking based charity that supports people with a learning disability and autistic people to create the life they want to live.???Each year, LinkAble provides over 300 children, young people, and adults access to a wide range of activities that develop skills, confidence, and lasting friendships.
Aim of the Role
To assist with the up keep of our busy play and activity sessions for children, young people and adults with learning disabilities by providing maintenance tasks, 16 hours a week over 4 days. Also driving 1 of our 2 Minibuses daily to pick children up from school and bring them back to our sessions at The Link, therefore your hours would be in the afternoon, for example 12.30pm - 4.30pm.
Key Tasks - Building Maintenance
Perform cleaning activities such as, cleaning walls and mopping
Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
Install appliances and equipment
Do garden/yard upkeep including fence repairs, seating repairs
Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, batteries
Clean windows inside and out
Keep gutters clear
Carry out small painting and decorating jobs when required
Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues
Cover for cleaner when she is on holiday
Monthly legionella water testing
Key Tasks - Minibus Driver
Drive one of our minibuses to various local community venues such as Bocketts Farm where are children, young people and adults are visiting. Wait at the venue and drive the children back to The Link.
Pick up children from local schools to bring them to our centre in Woking
Take adults out to local community venues, either waiting for them or returning at the end of the day.
Undertake regular safety checks on vehicles used for work purposes as required by Charity policies and procedures to ensure that vehicles are safe. Maintain vehicle records as required and keep vehicles in a clean and tidy order, ensuring that vehicles are secure and correctly parked when not in use and filled with petrol.
Required Skills
Experience using hand and electrical tools
Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
Very good communication and interpersonal skills
Physically fit and a careful driver who is confident in driving larger vehicles.
To take the required minibus drivers training you are required to be over 21, have been driving for 3 years and have a clean driving license. Some vehicles require a D1 license
Be confident interacting with children, young people and adults who have learning disabilities, with support alongside other staff.
