To support the Facilities & Operations Manager in the effective and safe operation of the retail site, ensuring high standards of facilities maintenance, security compliance, and customer safety. The Supervisor will play a proactive role in coordinating cleaning, maintenance, and security services to maintain a safe, welcoming, and compliant environment. The post holder must set a strong example of professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to high standards, acting as a role model for staff and contractors. This role will involve cleaning and security duties.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Operations
Take a proactive approach to the day-to-day management of the building, tenants, and employees.
Conduct thorough site inspections, ensuring compliance with statutory and company standards (fire safety, health & safety, security).
Liaise with contractors and service providers (e.g., cleaning, waste, security, HVAC, electrical, fire & sprinkler system).
Support and monitor planned preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring prompt and effective resolution of faults.
Manage stock and supplies of cleaning, security, and facilities equipment to avoid disruption.

Security & Safety
Support the Facilities & Operations Manager in implementing and monitoring security policies and procedures.
Oversee access control, CCTV, and alarm systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
Lead by example in emergency planning, incident response, and evacuation procedures.
Ensure strict compliance with licensing, fire regulations, and health & safety requirements.
People & Communication
Act as a first point of contact for contractors, suppliers, and site teams regarding facilities issues.
Supervise, motivate, and coordinate cleaning and security staff, ensuring high service delivery standards are consistently met.
Report issues promptly to the Facilities & Operations Manager and drive resolution.
Provide a professional, customer-focused, and approachable presence within the retail environment.
Administration & Compliance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and security checks.
Assist with audits and regulatory inspections.
Support budget monitoring and cost control for facilities services.
Ensure compliance with GDPR, safeguarding, and confidentiality requirements.
Person Specification
Essential:
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally within facilities, cleaning, or security services.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, problem-solve, and act on initiative.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks and a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with staff, contractors, and customers.
IT literacy (MS Office, reporting systems).
Desirable:
IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH certificate.
SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.
Experience working in a retail or public-facing environment.
Knowledge of CCTV, alarm systems, and access control.
