About the Job:

As a member of the Deployment Services Team, you will be responsible for keeping accurate records of our IT assets which include laptops, monitors, and peripherals. You will be responsible for configuring and issuing IT equipment to new starters. You will also support the issue of IT equipment as part of our rolling replacement programme. As a member of the team, you will deal with the return of equipment from staff leavers as well as taking delivery of new equipment from our suppliers.

Main responsibilities:

IT Graduate Technicians (Desktop Services) will:

  • Provide a high-quality customer desktop service to ensure all staff and students have access to the IT services required to fulfil their responsibilities
  • Configure and test desktop devices following departmental processes and standards
  • Deploy desktop devices to staff, students, offices, and teaching rooms as determined by work and project schedules
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff and students, as appropriate, and escalate when required
  • Liaise with, and work in collaboration with, colleagues across IT to deliver the desktop service
  • Update and maintain accurate records on the IT Asset Register
  • Take responsibility for responding to and fulfilling requests, meeting Service Level Agreements, assigned to the team using the IT Service Desk system
  • Maintain accurate and timely records on the IT Service Desk system
  • Engage with the IT Academy including attendance and contributing at regular meetings, and the mentoring support provided
Skills and Experience:
  • Educated to bachelor\'s degree level
Able to demonstrate familiarity with:
  • IT infrastructure (hardware, operating systems, databases, networks)
  • IT applications and services provided at Birmingham City University
  • Industry standard frameworks and methodologies for managing the design and services provided in an IT environment for example; ITIL, Togaf, Prince2, Agile
  • IT asset life cycle including configuration, deployment, and asset registers
  • Software deployment tools e.g. SCCM, Active Directory
