We're now looking for a motivated

Solar Designer

to join our growing technical team. This role is ideal for a

graduate with some CAD experience

who's passionate about renewable energy and wants to build a career in solar system design.

Main Responsibilities

Design domestic and small commercial

solar PV systems

using CAD and specialist design software. Produce accurate roof layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Prepare design documentation and system specifications in line with

MCS

and

Building Regulations

. Carry out initial desktop surveys using site data, photos, and aerial imagery. Liaise with sales, survey, and installation teams to ensure smooth project handovers. Provide technical support to project managers and installers when needed. Keep up to date with new technologies, components, and design standards in the solar industry.

Skills & Experience Required

Degree (or equivalent) in

Mechanical/ Electrical Design

,

Engineering

,

Renewable Energy

,

Environmental Science

,

Architecture

, or a related field.

Experience with CAD software

(AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar) is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Good understanding of electrical or construction principles. Ability to interpret technical drawings and produce accurate designs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Enthusiastic about renewable energy and sustainability.

Desirable (but not essential)

Familiarity with

PV

Sol,

Helioscope

, or similar solar design tools.
Knowledge of

MCS standards

and UK planning/building requirements. Experience working on renewable energy or construction projects.
