Location: UK (Remote)

Working Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, 9AM-5PM GMT

Contract: Fixed-Term (12 months with annual review)

Salary: 29,000 per annum

Overview of Responsibilities

The Ehlers-Danlos Society is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic & Motion Designer with strong skills in motion design, graphic design, and video production. This role is central to the visual storytelling behind our educational offerings, particularly our Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), as well as our campaigns, events, and digital engagement efforts.

You will conceptualize and produce interactive learning materials, animations, videos, and compelling static designs that communicate complex information in accessible, audience-friendly formats. This position requires a hybrid creative mindset--balancing educational design with digital marketing creativity--and a strong understanding of current visual trends, accessibility standards, and brand consistency.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

This role has four (4) core areas of ownership, the responsibilities involved include, but are not limited to:?

Graphic, Motion, and Video Design

Transform creative briefs into visually compelling designs, videos, and motion graphics aligned with strategic goals and brand identity. Produce high-quality, print-ready, and digital content, including motion graphics, video, and static assets for campaigns, MOOCs, and social media. Oversee the capture, editing, and production of original video content, including event footage and interview-style content. Create short, engaging animations and explainers to support learning and promotional content. Ensure all content adheres to accessibility standards and WCAG guidelines.
Interactive Learning & MOOC Support

Design interactive learning tools (slide decks, PDFs, animated video explainers) optimized for use across digital learning platforms. Collaborate with subject matter experts to visually interpret complex scientific or medical topics. Create supporting web and multimedia content for MOOCs to drive engagement and learner retention.
Campaigns, Events, and Branding

Take ownership of the visual identity for events, educational programs, and public awareness campaigns. Develop cohesive visual systems for assigned projects and maintain adherence to branding guidelines. Design visual assets for cross-platform use: emails, event signage, presentations, social graphics, and promotional items. Capture and edit event footage to support storytelling and digital campaigns (occasional travel may be required).
Creative Collaboration & Workflow

Work closely with the Design & Communications team to ensure that all materials meet high standards and reflect our tone and mission. Contribute to campaign planning, brainstorming sessions, and creative strategy discussions. Manage workload through the design ticketing system and deliver multiple concurrent projects on time, especially during peak activity periods. Regularly contribute fresh ideas that elevate our creative approach and differentiate our visual presence.
Work Environment

This is a fully remote position. However, due to the international nature of the Society's work, occasional travel to company events, meetings, and conferences may be required.

Requirements

Education & Knowledge

Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, or an up-to-date portfolio demonstrating relevant skills. Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro). Strong understanding of motion design, video production, and storytelling through animation. Experience designing accessible content (e.g., alt text, captions, screen reader compatibility). Excellent sense of typography, layout, and colour theory. Familiarity with social and digital platform trends (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc.). Experience in a creative design or artwork production role, with a keen eye for detail, accuracy, and consistency.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills

Confident in managing projects end-to-end, from concept through to production and delivery. Conceptual thinker with a logical, systematic approach to work. Ability to take full ownership of projects from initial briefing to final presentation. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with quick turnaround times.
Work Environment and Travel Requirements

Must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship. Ability to work independently in a remote team setting. Reliable internet connection for remote work, video calls, and cloud-based collaboration. Ability to attend one in-person retreat annually (UK). Willingness to travel to other in-person meetings and events as required. Willingness to occasionally work evenings or weekends.
