Overview of Responsibilities
The Graphic & Motion Designer is responsible for producing high-quality static and motion graphics that elevate the organization's fundraising campaigns, social media presence, events, and overall digital communications. This role is essential in enhancing brand visibility and audience engagement through impactful and creative visual storytelling.
The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a strong eye for design and animation, eager to push boundaries and experiment with new ideas. By combining innovation with strategic design, the Graphic & Motion Designer will play a key role in strengthening the organisation's visual identity and driving digital engagement across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
This role has three (3) core areas of ownership, the responsibilities involved include, but are not limited to:
Graphic Design and Motion Design
Transform creative briefs into visually compelling static and motion designs that are on-brand and aligned with project objectives.
Produce high-quality digital and print assets, including motion graphics, videos, and static visuals for campaigns, social media, events, and digital platforms.
Support the design and maintenance of the organization's website and social media channels as part of the broader digital marketing strategy.
Collaborate with the Design & Communications team to deliver purposeful, high-quality materials that reflect the organization's visual identity and tone of voice.
Manage workloads efficiently, particularly during peak event periods, by prioritizing and handling design requests through the ticketing system.
Ensure brand consistency across all creative outputs, maintaining a professional and cohesive visual presence.
Innovate and enhance motion content by contributing fresh ideas that boost engagement and advance The Society's creative direction.
Create impactful visual content that strengthens digital storytelling and supports awareness, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives.
Project Focus
Take full ownership of graphic and motion design deliverables for events, programs, and key organizational initiatives.
Maintain and apply brand guidelines across assigned projects to ensure visual consistency, cohesion, and quality in all materials.
Develop and implement creative concepts that reflect the organization's mission and strengthen its distinctive visual identity.
Proactively seek opportunities to innovate, introducing fresh ideas and design approaches that enhance the impact of visual communications.
Manage creative projects from concept through delivery, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to achieve high-quality, timely outcomes.
Departmental Processes
Collaborate closely with the Creative & Digital Communications Director to ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a consistently high standard.
Support structured workflows and clear briefing processes through the ticketing system to streamline design production and project management.
Respond promptly and effectively to design requests, maintaining clear communication, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and expectations.
Foster a collaborative, creative team environment, contributing to a culture of excellence and consistency across all visual outputs.
Work Environment
Under normal conditions, this role is a fully remote position, working from home. However, due to the international nature of The Society's work, staff may be required to travel to company events, meetings, and conferences as well as some weekend work.
Requirements
Education & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, motion graphics, or a related field, or an up-to-date portfolio showcasing relevant skills.
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Experience with video and motion graphics software such as (Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition Catalyst Browse, Vyond, Adobe Express).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Excellent planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
An eye for detail, accuracy, and consistency in design and motion design.
A conceptual thinker who approaches work logically and systematically.
Proven ability to take ownership of projects, from brief to final delivery.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds.
Strong interpersonal skills; a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Ability to work independently within a remote team.
Interest in Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) is a plus but not required.

Work Environment and Travel Requirements
Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Reliable internet connection for remote work, video calls, and cloud-based collaboration.
Ability to attend one in-person retreat annually in the UK.
Willingness to travel to other in-person meetings and events as needed
