Job purpose
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Freelance Handy Man to join our team as and when required. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse range of maintenance and repair skills, ensuring that properties are well-maintained and functional. This role requires a proactive individual who can tackle various tasks efficiently and completing to a high quality while providing excellent customer service.
Main duties:
Perform general maintenance and repairs on residential and commercial properties.
Handle plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and installing fixtures.
Conduct electrical work, including replacing light fixtures and troubleshooting minor electrical issues.
Carry out carpentry tasks, such as repairing doors, windows, and cabinetry.
Repair or replace broken equipment or fixtures. Install or assemble furniture.
Regular testing of equipment to make sure they are in full working order (training will be given)
Assist with painting and decorating projects to enhance the appearance of properties.
Respond promptly to service requests from clients and ensure high-quality workmanship.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
Adhere to safety protocols while performing all tasks.
Gardening
Clearing and removal of rubbish
Collecting and delivering items such as furniture/beds
External window cleaning
Some on-call duties should the need arise
Health and safety checks
General work such as installing CCTV
On call duties
Administration
1. To ensure that good quality records are maintained as required.
Housing Management
To undertake property inspections at regular intervals and at the end of the tenancy period
Support with Health & Safety checks, reports and visits as required, liaising with relevant contractors where required
Work alongside and in accordance with other agencies regulations including local councils
Maintain spreadsheets/database relating to tenants and houses and recording maintenance and obtaining quotes for work
Carry out simple maintenance tasks within the IHS service.
Person Specification:
To carry out PAT testing training, testing and visual checks and recording
Able to work to confidentiality standards at all times
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and influencing skills.
Excellent attention to detail within cleaning/maintenance responsibilities.
Janitorial/Maintenance service experience (desirable).
First Aid at work (desirable).
Able to work well and build rapport with customers & clients.
Articulate and able to communicate effectively, maintaining confidentiality at all times
Be able to work as part of a team.
Must be able to work on own initiative with a proactive and flexible attitude.
The ability to be flexible to meet the needs and demands of the role & the business.
Basic plumbing and maintenance such as light fitting changes etc
Experience
Proven experience in general maintenance or maintenance person services is preferred.
Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting techniques.
Ability to troubleshoot issues effectively and provide practical solutions.
Excellent communication skills to interact with clients professionally.
A valid driving licence is advantageous.
Certification in relevant trades (e.g., plumbing or electrical) is a plus but not mandatory.
