We are seeking a passionate and creative

Head Chef

to lead our kitchen team at our vibrant gastropub. The ideal candidate will bring a flair for modern British/European cuisine with a strong emphasis on quality ingredients, seasonality, and innovation. This role requires a balance of culinary talent, leadership, and operational oversight to deliver an exceptional dining experience.

The Noose & Monkey is a long established gastropub in the city of Aberdeen. We are a vibrant bunch that loves nothing better than delivering great food, alongside amazing customer service, good vibes and cocktails, (margaritas been our speciality ). We are all about freshly cooked food served in a professional and friendly environment. We have a core menu plus specials that are offered nightly. We also run a breakfast, brunch and Sunday lunch menu at the weekends.

Role Overview



As the Head Chef, you will be at the helm of our kitchen operations, leading a team to deliver exceptional dining experiences. Your role encompasses menu development, team leadership, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and hygiene. We are looking for someone that has a real passion for hospitality and has a calm manner within the kitchen. We are small kitchen team looking for someone to build upon what we have created. Working closely with a collaborative management team and owner, we want to continue building something great from the kitchen to front of house.

Key Responsibilities



Menu Development:

Design and regularly update a seasonal gastropub menu that reflects creativity and aligns with the pub's brand and customer expectations.

Kitchen Management:

Oversee the day-to-day kitchen operations including prep, cooking, plating, and cleanliness.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, train, schedule, and manage the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional work environment

Quality Control

: Oversee the preparation and presentation of dishes, ensuring consistency and adherence to the pub's culinary standards.

Stock and Budget Management

: Monitor inventory levels, manage supplier relationships, and control food costs to maintain profitability.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and excellent customer experience.

Quality Assurance:

Maintain high standards for food quality, consistency, and presentation.

Health & Safety Compliance

: Ensure the kitchen operates in accordance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Qualifications & Experience



Proven experience as a

Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef

in a high-volume kitchen, preferably within a gastropub or similar establishment. Strong understanding of menu planning, food costing, and kitchen management. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team. In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
Passion for seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and innovative cooking techniques.

Pay: 33,000.00-38,000.00 per year
