Overview of Job Role



We are seeking a Head Chef to join us in the exciting journey of opening of Aston Manor Care Home. This pivotal role requires an individual who can lead and manage the kitchen to prepare healthy and nutritious food. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of people skills and strong culinary expertise to deliver high standards of dining experience.

Hours of Work:

42 hours per week

(Rota will cover Monday - Sunday)

Competitive Pay Rate of

21 per hour



Key Duties and Responsibilities



Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen ensuring the highest standard of food preparation, cooking and service. Create and update menus that reflect the needs of service users at Aston Manor taking into account the nutrition content, quality, texture and taste. Able to create and deliver a culinary experience for service users both in terms of quality and presentation of food. Ensure that food safety regulations (SFBB, HACCP) and any other relevant standards are thoroughly implemented and adhered to by all members of the dining and hospitality team. Ensure that the dietary requirements of service users and guests are met at all times. Lead the hiring, training and roster management of the kitchen team. Supervise and develop staff using the available company resources to maximise their potential. Order catering consumables from current nominated suppliers in line with Company purchasing policy. Ensure all documentation is completed and signed off by the appropriate members of the team. Complete monthly audits for kitchen reporting any finding to Home Manager. Consult with service users on a regular basis to ensure that their changing needs and choices are captured to reflect the menu. Prepare special diets for service users as directed by the clinical team members. Plan food orders according to budget allowance the General Manager. Purchase supplies as necessary and monitor and control service from suppliers ensuring good stock control. Check and note all deliveries to ensure the quality expected against the order. Ensure that the administrator receives invoices and corresponding purchase orders each week. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and stores. Ensure that all kitchen equipment are well maintained and in good working order.

About You



Demonstratable working knowledge of Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB), HACCP and EHO regulations. Excellent communication skills with a people first approach. Demonstrable experience in managing kitchen budgets. Ability to multitask, prioritise and take ownership of this role with confidence and discretion. Work flexibly and collaboratively as part of the team. Relevant qualification or certification in catering and food hygiene standards.
