We are seeking an experienced and talented Head Chef to join our team.
Apiary is a bee & honey inspired bar & restaurant with a growing reputation for exceptional food & drinks, and we are looking for someone to take charge of our small kitchen, take our food offering to the next level, and create memorable dishes for our guests to enjoy.
The position allows for a lot of creative freedom in regards to the food menu, and we are open to working with new & exciting suppliers should there be a demand for them to be used.
Needless to say, an interest in working with honey, bee pollen & other bee-related products would be hugely beneficial.
If you have a passion for creating delicious dishes, a strong background in kitchen management, and strong leadership skills, we want to hear from you.
The salary is based on a 48h week, however we are flexible and open to working pro-rata for a 40-45h week should that be preferable.
Service Charge / Tronc = +/- 6,000 p/a
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
- Create and develop innovative menus that meet the needs and preferences of our customers
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standards and presented in an appealing manner
- Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, food safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team to plan and execute special events or promotions
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations, culinary techniques, and food preparation
- Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes
- Proficient in supervising staff, providing guidance, and fostering a positive work environment
