Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate Head Chef to lead and manage our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in catering, excellent leadership skills, and a creative approach to menu planning. The ideal candidate will also be calm, organised and respectful of the small team they are managing. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, and taking responsibility for all paperwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
Oversee the preparation and presentation of all dishes, ensuring consistency and quality.
Team Leadership:
Manage kitchen rotas, mentor kitchen staff and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Inventory Management:
Maintain inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively and in a timely manner.
Quality Control:
Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are met. The ideal Head Chef will be able to scale up with very little compromise to quality.
Menu Development:
Create and design innovative menus that meet client needs and showcase seasonal ingredients as well as being able to write out all menu spec sheets for these dishes.
Client Interaction:
The ideal candidate will lead on all tastings and collaborate with clients to customise menus where necessary to deliver on their vision.
Budget Management:
Monitor kitchen expenses and work within budget constraints.
Event Coordination:
Work closely with event planners and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless execution of catering events.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of kitchen experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Skills:
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications:
Level 3 food hygiene as a minimum
