La Bibliotheque in Haggerston, East London, is on the search for a talented and well-presented Head Chef.
Working with Mediterranean and Japanese inspiration, La Bibliotheque aim to deliver excellent food made using premium, fresh, raw ingredients, carefully prepared and presented.
The right candidate is expected to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm to provide five-star service to all our guests. This position will suit a social person whose main drive is to provide an excellent and memorable experience for all guests.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and develop menus in collaboration with the management team
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation and production
- Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to established recipes and quality standards
- Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items and specials
- Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative techniques into menu offerings
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a fine dining restaurant environment, preferably as Sous Chef or Head Chef
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary terminology
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes
- Creative skills and proven record of successful menu development
- Strong working knowledge of costing dishes and structured menu planning to reduce wastage
We encourage all candidates to familiarise themselves with La Bibliotheque prior to applying. It is a small 30 cover restaurant with an open kitchen and kitchen counter dining. The right candidate must have an outgoing and social personality, excellent ability to maintain the highest level or cleanness and organisation during service and be very hands on. The team is small and the Head Chef is expected to be highly involved in the daily operations, prep and service.
Ideal starting date: Beginning of July 2025
The salary offered is 40,000/annum with additional compensation packages available.
You must have the right to work in the UK. The company can consider sponsorship for the right candidate who already hold an approved, but it can not assist with new applications.
