Head Chef

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled
Head Chef
to make a name for themselves within the food service industry and be a part of setting the new standard for workplace hospitality.
BaxterStorey is seeking an experienced and innovative Head Chef to join our new team in Oxford at an exciting brand new Oxford university facility which will include a 500-seat concert hall and a 250-seat auditorium, as well as flexible performance and exhibition spaces for music dance and art. As the Head Chef, you will lead our kitchen operations, create exceptional culinary experiences, and maintain the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Please note: This role has a start date of 22nd September 2025
Develop and implement creative, seasonal menus that align with our brand and customer preferences
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food preparation and timely service
Manage and mentor a team of kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Control food costs, manage inventory, and optimise kitchen resources
Collaborate with the management team to achieve financial targets and improve overall performance
Ensure consistent food quality and presentation across all dishes
Stay abreast of culinary trends and incorporate innovative techniques into menu offerings
Participate in menu tastings, food presentations, and client meetings as required
Manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts to ensure the best quality ingredients at competitive prices
Qualifications
Culinary degree or diploma from a recognised institution
Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role
Extensive knowledge of various cuisines and current culinary trends
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a kitchen team effectively
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and food cost management
In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations, including food hygiene and allergen management
Experience in high-volume food service environments
Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and inventory control
Creativity and passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house staff and management
Valid food hygiene and safety certifications
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
