We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to join the culinary team at The Hand Hotel in Chirk. As a Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in creating exceptional dining experiences while leading and supervising kitchen staff in a fast-paced hotel environment. You will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen's operational efficiency, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Duties
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and preparation processes that align with hotel standards.
Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Develop, design, and update seasonal menus that reflect culinary trends while considering guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
Ensure the kitchen is fully compliant with all food safety regulations, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and adhering to HACCP guidelines.
Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste through effective resource management.
Assist in controlling food costs and driving profitability through efficient menu planning and portion control.
Maintain a clear understanding of the hotel's budgetary constraints and work within them to create cost-effective yet high-quality dishes.
Ensure regular monitoring of food and labour costs, tracking any variances and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service and the highest levels of guest satisfaction.
Implement effective systems for food safety, from storage and handling to cooking and service, and ensure that staff adhere to these protocols.
Develop, implement, and regularly review SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency in all areas.
Skills
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations, including a thorough understanding of HACCP principles.
Proven experience in managing kitchen budgets, food costing, and minimizing waste while maximizing profit margins.
Expertise in food production within a high-end hotel or hospitality setting, with the ability to adapt to guest preferences and changing trends.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse kitchen team.
Excellent organizational skills, with keen attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen operations.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and service.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with both kitchen and front-of-house teams, ensuring smooth operations.
A passion for culinary arts, creativity, and a desire to continuously improve and develop culinary skills and kitchen management expertise.
