Are you motivated senior business development and sales professional, looking to work for an organisation renowned for education technology solutions?

EDINA at The University of Edinburgh is looking for a proactive, driven individual with strong experience in business development and sales of IT solutions to come and join them as their permanent Head of Business Development and Sales.

The individual will join EDINA at an exciting time of growth, as they develop new and existing solutions and consultancy for a range of products, including Internet of Things (IoT), data management, geospatial data, computational learning platforms, and AI solutions.

This role reports to the Director of EDINA and offers a salary of \xc2\xa357,696 - \xc2\xa364,914 pa, depending on experience. It has a hybrid-working pattern, with the successful candidate expected to work on-campus in Edinburgh at least one day per week.

The team would prefer full-time (35hrs pw) working hours, however, we are committed to offering flexibility so would consider flexible working options, i.e. compressed hours or staggered start/finish times. The role requires some work-related travel (approx 5-6 trips per year), both national and international.

Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Using sound commercial acumen to develop new markets, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and oversee growth in the sales of innovative IT products and services.
  • Working across three departments (EDINA, Internet of Things and Digital Curation Centre) to provide proactive business development services.
  • Using a strong ability to understand new technology solutions to effectively present them, secure client meetings and close sales.
  • Playing an important role in EDINA\'s leadership team and managing a team of four business development, marketing and project management colleagues.
  • Using interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with customers, understand their needs and match the benefits of our IT solutions to those needs.
  • Conducting market research to identify new opportunities, develop strong propositions and negotiate competitive contracts.
Candidates who meet the below criteria are encouraged to apply:

Essential:
  • A demonstrable track record of business development and the ability to lead sales growth strategies to deliver income targets.
  • Ability to undertake research, assess new markets and develop sales opportunities
  • Ability to learn and understand new technologies, and present them to potential customers
  • Previous line management experience and a proven ability to motivate teams to deliver targets
  • Ability to develop and maintain influential relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
  • Experience in the technology fields ISG are developing would be highly advantageous, but is not essential.
