Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Head of Data & Analytics to enable the new Group-wide Data Strategy



This role is responsible for shaping the strategic and technical direction of Kier's enterprise data platform and analytics capabilities.



As a platform and technical leader, in this role you will ensure data is treated as a strategic asset; governed, trusted, and leveraged to deliver measurable business outcomes. This includes leading the design and evolution of scalable data architectures, embedding robust governance, and enabling advanced analytics and AI capabilities across the organisation.

Location

: Location can be flexible with remote working available. Occasional travel to our offices in Northamptonshire, Manchester and London will be required.

Hours

: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?

Strategic and Platform Leadership -

define and execute the enterprise-wide Data Strategy in alignment with business and digital transformation goals

Technical Leadership & Architecture -

own the end-to-end architecture of Kier's Azure-based data platform, including data lakes, warehouses, and real-time integration pipelines. Lead the design and implementation of modern data engineering practices (ETL/ELT), leveraging tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Spark

Analytics, AI & Innovation -

drive the adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to unlock business value and operational efficiency

Team & Capability Development -

build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary data team including architects, engineers, analysts, and data scientists

Culture and Engagement -

enable data-driven insights and use cases that help support the exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities

The role of Head of Data and Analytics is great for you if you have:


Significant experience leading data and analytics functions in large organisations, with a broad understanding of strategic data and analytics capabilities. Strong expertise in Azure Data Platform (Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Power BI) Significant experience leading enterprise data and analytics functions in large, complex organisation A broad understanding of the full range of strategic data and analytics capabilities, and the ability to communicate these concepts, methods and techniques in ways easily understood by other stakeholders Experience working with executive leadership and board-level stakeholders
