Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join our firm to head a busy family department. Due to a recent merger , the department is across two sites.

We require an experienced and technically strong Solicitor to enhance the family law department and to further develop the team. The successful applicant will be a member of The Family Law Panel and have experience of Legal Aid Supervision.

The successful candidate will have previous management experience and be able to develop ideas into the department. Business development is a key part of this role. We welcome applications from existing departmental heads and supervisors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for career progression within a well-established firm. The role is considered senior management and the succcesful candidate would be considered for future partnership.

Advanced Family Law and Children Law Panel membership is preferred but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:



Lead and oversee the Family Law department, ensuring the highest standards of legal service. Develop and implement strategies to drive departmental growth and success. Manage a caseload of complex family law matters, including: Divorce and separation Financial settlements Child arrangements and parental disputes Domestic abuse cases Care proceedings Provide mentorship and guidance to junior solicitors and support staff, fostering a collaborative team environment. Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives to strengthen the department's presence. Ensure a strong client-focused approach, delivering exceptional service and legal expertise. Represent the firm at networking events and within the legal community to enhance its reputation. Keep up to date with changes in family law and ensure full compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. Attend hearings as an advocate when necessary.

What We're Looking For:



A qualified solicitor with a strong background in family law and experience managing a team or department. Membership of a recognised panel is essential Extensive experience handling a variety of family law cases, including high-value financial disputes and sensitive child-related matters. Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team. Excellent client care, communication, and negotiation skills. A strategic mindset with a commercial awareness and a proactive approach to growth and development. A strong commitment to helping clients navigate challenging family law matters. This role is primarily office-based, with some flexibility for hybrid working.

Salary is negotiable upon experience.

Pay: From 50,000.00 per year
