We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to lead our Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) department as the Head of MHE. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, management, and execution of all activities related to the MHE, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency. This role requires a strategic thinker, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of MHE operations.

Key Duties

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategic direction for the MHE department.
  • Establish goals, objectives, and performance metrics for the department in alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead a team of MHE technicians, engineers, and other relevant personnel.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance and procurement for all MHE.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices in MHE operations.
  • Optimize equipment uptime and minimize downtime through effective maintenance strategies.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, including maintenance costs, labor expenses, and equipment investments.
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure the timely acquisition of necessary parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Analyze and report on budget variances, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Collaborate with other departments, within the whole Culina Group, to align MHE operations with overall business objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on MHE-related matters.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability of MHE operations.
  • Set up appropriate systems and anlyse operational data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management detailing departmental performance and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Desirable Bachelor\'s degree or appropriate qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in MHE operations, maintenance, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Personable, relatable character able to build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems and other relevant software tools.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards in MHE operations.
  • A charismatic individual with a positive can-do attitude able to work both independently and as part of a team
