About the Role
Join a supportive and welcoming team at Glebe Primary School, where the wellbeing of staff, pupils, and parents is central to our ethos. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to play a crucial role in enhancing teaching and learning across the school.
The core function of this post is to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities, providing short-term whole-class cover, and monitoring pupil progress.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following professional duties:
Whole-Class Teaching Cover:
Provide intermittent and planned whole-class cover to allow teachers time for Planning, Preparation, and Assessment (PPA), or to cover short-term absence.
Planning and Delivery:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes, adapting activities according to pupil responses and needs.
Intervention and Support:
Lead targeted intervention programmes and support specific children or groups, helping them to access the curriculum and accelerate their progress.
Assessment and Reporting:
Monitor and evaluate pupil responses, providing objective and accurate feedback and reports on achievement, progress, and development to the class teacher.
Curriculum Support:
Have a secure working knowledge of the primary National Curriculum and other relevant learning strategies to effectively support the development of pupils' skills.
What We Are Looking For (Person Specification)
We are seeking a professional who demonstrates a commitment to high standards and has the following essential experience and skills:
Qualification:
Achievement of the HLTA National Status or an equivalent Level 4 qualification (minimum NVQ Level 3 in learning support is required).
Experience:
A minimum of two years' recent experience working at the Higher Level Teaching Assistant level within a primary school setting.
Core Skills:
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, educated to a minimum of GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 in Maths and English.
ICT Proficiency:
Ability to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) effectively to support learning activities and professional practice.
Relationships:
Proven ability to establish positive, productive, and trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and parents.
