We are seeking a friendly and professional Hotel Bartender/ Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate may be the first point of contact for guests, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a seamless check-in and check-out experience. This role requires a friendly, enthusiastic and personable individual with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment. In addition to working at Reception you will be required to serve drinks at our residents only bar and assist guests as required, either with their luggage or providing them with information about places to visit in Edinburgh.
Duties
Greet guests warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in/check-out procedures using PMS and also helping carry their luggage.
Manage reservations, cancellations, and guest requests accurately and efficiently
Handle cash, credit card transactions, and billing with precision, demonstrating proficiency in retail math and cash handling.
Provide information about hotel amenities, local attractions, dining options, including fine dining or nightclub venues if applicable
Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance departments to ensure guest rooms meet quality standards
Respond promptly to guest inquiries via phone or in person, maintaining excellent customer service standards
Upsell hotel services or packages to enhance guest experience and revenue opportunities
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with food safety and hospitality standards
Requirements
Previous experience in hospitality, bar/club or retail environments is highly desirable, especially with experience of serving alcohol.
Proficiency with computers and PMS is desirable
Strong time management skills to handle multiple guest requests efficiently
Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor
Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately
Knowledge of food safety standards and food handling procedures is a plus
Experience working in pubs, nightclubs, or the food industry is advantageous
Ability to work flexible hours including nights; hospitality experience during late hours or weekends is beneficial
Strong communication skills and a personable attitude are essential for success in this role
