The purpose of this role is to provide the HR Department with effective and efficient administration. The role would suit a strong administrator who has previous experience working in an HR environment.


Reporting directly to the HR Manager, and as a strong administrator, you will have a keen eye for detail and be able to work autonomously and efficiently as you will need to juggle multiple projects at once with priorities changing on a day-to-day basis. You will provide all aspects of HR administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle.

Permanent, Full-time, 52 weeks per year Working hours: This is a full time office based role, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:30 and 17:00.

Salary: 26,000 - 28,000 depending on experience plus bene?ts

Holiday entitlement: 28 days per annum plus bank holidays. May Day is a working day Start Date: ASAP

Duties include:

Manage the recruitment processes from advertising the roles, through to onboarding which includes but is not limited to:
Job offer letters and contracts for new employees Ensuring all recruitment and statutory checks required to employ staff in a school environment are complete e.g. DBS/Right to Work/barring/safeguarding checks, and ensuring we are compliant with ISI regulations Co-ordinating the offboarding processes ensuring leavers are processed in a timely manner Creating HR letters to include contract variations and pay increases Accurately inputting of data onto HR database for all new starters Maintaining HR database to ensure data is kept up to date for existing employees Maintaining the single central register of staff for audit on a regular basis to make sure it is accurate and up to date Record absences accurately and timely Ensure employee training is up to date and records of all staff meet compliance requirements Ensuring Staff Annual Declarations are up to date Taking notes for meetings as required (including investigation, disciplinary, grievance & appeal meetings, as well as general departmental meetings) Regular liaison with colleagues, supervisors and managers to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered at all times Managing probation process by ensuring line managers are made aware of probations and sending confirmation letters out Liaising with employees regarding benefits Responding to a high volume of queries raised in the HR email inbox Act as the point of contact for internal and external customers, answering incoming calls and directing where appropriate HR related administration tasks as directed by the HR Manager or Head of People Operations

Skills and Experience:

Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages and Google suite Able to develop positive on-going working relationships throughout the department and the School, providing excellent internal customer service Resilient and self-sufficient Effective team worker and equally able to work independently under pressure, at pace and to tight deadlines with minimal supervision Well organised with strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills Strong attention to detail Excellent listening skills Confident communicator, both written and verbal Ability to identify opportunities for improvements within the role Act with a high degree of integrity and honesty Ability to remain calm, composed and flexible Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of sensitive material Previous experience in an education environment desirable but not essential

Established in 1881, Culford School is a co-educational, all-through, independent school in the town of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
