Role Summary

The Abingdon Foundation is looking to appoint an engaging and experienced HR professional to join our friendly HR team in providing a high quality, professional and visible HR service across the Foundation. The Foundation comprises two schools: Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School, as well as Abingdon School Enterprises.

The HR Advisor will play a key role in administering and advising on contractual, pay and benefits related matters, as well as supporting employee relations processes and proactively working with managers and Heads of Department. They will also advise on and support the administration of a range of other areas including staff sickness and absence, leavers/offboarding and maternity, paternity and shared parental leave.

If you are a flexible, positive and proactive team-player with excellent communication, administrative and IT skills, and have the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues, we would love to hear from you. Experience working in a generalist HR role is essential. It would be an advantage to have had experience working in schools and an understanding of the regulatory requirements in education, as well as hold (or be working towards) a CIPD Level 5 or above or equivalent qualification, but these are not essential. It is more important that you have the right skills and personal attributes for the role.

The School offers a wide range of generous benefits including up to 14.1% employer pension contribution, private healthcare insurance, free use of leisure facilities with discounted exercise classes, free lunches during term time, Christmas closure days and discounted school fees (eligibility criteria apply).

We recognise the value of a diverse and inclusive workplace and are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to ensure that our staffing at all levels and in all roles is diverse and we welcome applications from all backgrounds and all sections of the community.

Specific Application Requirements
