The successful candidate will provide a professional service covering all aspects of HR, employee relations and industrial relations supporting a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that all contract objectives are achieved and maintained through the performance of people. The People Team at this small site supports around 150 Colleagues with additional support for a smaller local site with approx. 50 Colleagues.
You will work within this busy team to provide a professional service covering all aspects of employee relations and the Colleague lifecycle. We are looking for an experienced People Advisor with strong Employee Relations (ER) and Trade Union experience; with standalone experience to work across a 24 hour 7 days per week operation, this role is onsite based.
How will you contribute?
Reporting to the People Manager, with a dotted line to the on-site General Manager.
Have a good understanding of employment legislation and ensures practices are carried out in line with changes in legislation.
Providing high quality advice and generalist HR support across the site
Manage a busy ER caseload, advising on legislative and company policy and procedures in an efficient manner
Develop effective on-going relationships at all levels establishing yourself as a credible, respected and valued People Advisor, responding to queries directly and influencing Managers to follow a best practice approach
Assist departmental Managers on the interpretation and implementation of company policies and procedures as well as local agreements
Support the delivery of the People plan for the year, making adjustments where required to suit the business
Compile and analyse market information
Facilitate and lead wellbeing and social events
Work with the local community and other agencies
Assist in the coaching, mentoring and development of the management team
What will you bring?
Previous experience within a similar role
Ideally holding a recognised HR qualification
Competent knowledge of employment law
Previous experience in a transport / distribution environment would be desirable
Previous experience of absence management
Previous experience of Oracle HR an advantage
Experience of working within a unionised environment.
Excellent PC skills
Ability to plan and prioritise workload, working under pressure to tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills
Confidential and professional approach
