People Apprentice
you will be involved in supporting the HR function learning and assisting the full employee lifecycle at West Dean gaining hands-on experience in a creative and dynamic environment whilst studying one day per week towards your
HR Support L3 Apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities will include
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and leaver processes
Prepare contracts, offer letters, and HR documentation
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
Assist with payroll data entry and queries
Monitor compliance (e.g. Right to Work, DBS checks)
Respond to staff queries via email and in person
Help coordinate induction and training activities
Contribute to HR projects and process improvements
Assistant with all aspects of HR Admin
Become and practice all compliance procedures
Assistant with payroll as required

Working Week:
35-hour week including 4 days on site and one day studying at Chichester College - average 7 hours per day.
Salary:
22,932 per annum dependant on age and in line with the Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage ( Please see further information below)
Qualifications Required:
GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 are required
A Levels would be an advantage

Future Prospects:
Subject to successful completion of the apprenticeship, a permanent role may be considered. Further training and development opportunities may also be available, depending on business needs and individual performance
Things to Consider:
This role is based at the West Dean Estate in West Dean, West Sussex, which is situated in the South Downs, 6 miles north of Chichester.
Onsite parking available.
Public Transport is available - closest bus stop is a short walk from the estate while trains go into Chichester and connect with bus services.
There may be some travel to the London Campus.
This is a 16-month apprenticeship to include end point assessment

Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is 7.55 per hour (As of the 1st April 2025). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16 to 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
