Europlaz who are a well-known medical device manufacturing business based in Southminster, Essex are seeking a proactive and strategic HR Manager to lead and support all aspects of Human Resources within the business. This role is both hands-on and strategic, requiring strong generalist HR knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of HR best practices to support our workforce and drive business success.
Working hours between 32 and 38 per week.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Compliance
Develop, maintain, and regularly update HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook to ensure alignment with company strategy and current employment legislation.
Act as the main point of contact for line managers regarding a wide range of HR topics, including pay and benefits, policy questions, and day-to-day employee queries.
Ensure HR records and documents are securely maintained in compliance with GDPR and company standards.
Be responsible for the HR budget
2. Recruitment & Onboarding
Support line managers with workforce planning and recruitment decisions aligned with resourcing needs.
Use creative ideas to attract talent and to increase workforce, when required to meet production demands.
Lead end-to-end recruitment for all roles, including job postings, screening, interviews, offer negotiation.
Manage a seamless onboarding process for all new hires, including induction training and initial compliance activities.
3. Employee Relations & Engagement
Provide coaching and support to line managers in handling employee relations issues such as absence management, disciplinary cases, grievances, and welfare meetings.
Lead initiatives to improve employee engagement and organizational culture, including our annual staff survey.
Develop and implement effective recognition programs for different levels within the business.
Conduct exit interviews, analyse data for trends, and provide reports with actionable insights to senior leadership.
4. Performance & Talent Management
Guide managers through performance management processes and support with capability issues, including referrals to Occupational Health as needed.
Support succession planning and identify development opportunities for high-potential employees.
Work with managers to ensure performance and development objectives are aligned with business goals.
5. Training & Development
Lead the all-staff PDR process to ensure it is running effectively throughout the business and is driving development and improvements.
Collaborate with managers to execute training needs from Personal Development Reviews (PDRs).
Ensure training records are maintained in accordance with company policy, including induction training for HR, Health & Safety.
As a medical device manufacturer, Quality and Production training are an important aspect of compliance. Collaborate with the quality department to make sure training systems and records are aligned to meet certification requirements.
6. Strategic HR & Reporting
Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's strategic HR plan aligning people initiatives with business objectives.
Track and report on HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and recruitment effectiveness to support data-driven decision-making.
Keep the board of directors informed on personnel-related matters to ensure alignment with business goals.
Maintain and optimize the digital HR systems to ensure accurate HR data and improved process efficiency.
7. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
Promote a culture of inclusion through equitable recruitment practices, policy development, and employee initiatives.
Lead initiatives to support employee health and wellbeing, including mental health awareness and external support services.
Skills/Competencies
Proven experience in a senior HR generalist or HR Manager role.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
CIPD qualified (Level 5 minimum preferred).
Experience with digital HR systems and data analytics.
Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and partner with managers at all levels.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Special working conditions
On Site role
32 - 38 hours per week
Flexible approach to hours, which may, from time to time including working outside of normal office hours to liaise with the night shift.

Pay: 47,000.00-50,000.00 per year
