Job Description

Hunterhouse College are seeking to recruit a Whole School ICT Support Technician. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will have the ability to manage and priortise their own workload.

Responsible to:

Senior Teacher in Charge of Wholeschool ICT, Head of ICT and Head of Finance and

Corporate Services.

Job Purpose

: To assist the Senior Teacher and Head of ICT in the development of ICT within the school and ensure that all computer systems and peripheral devices are fully functional to meet the needs of the school. Ability to be able to contribute to effective working of a team

Main Duties and Responsibilities



Administration of Network Systems

Planning, design, specification and installation, including upgrading of C2K systems and management of iMac network Management of the structured cabled environment of the school managed network Baseline system support and application support on the school managed system Contact with outside agencies as necessary

Provision and Maintenance of ICT Facilities and Resources

Ensure that all systems are fully functional to meet the needs of the school Daily care and maintenance of all computer systems and their environments Install hardware and software as appropriate Carry out basic repairs to equipment, where appropriate Organise the repair of equipment either on site or with agencies, as appropriate Perform back-ups of crucial data regularly on school managed systems Ensure system security on school managed systems Ensure that Health and Safety procedures are followed and adhered to

Management of Online Communications Services

Develop and maintain existing ICT systems, including the school's website, Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), email, and Internet facilities as appropriate

Curricular Assistance

Participate in planning and delivery of relevant induction and training sessions Assist staff and pupils with hardware and software problems arising from the use of ICT equipment within the classroom Supervision of pupils in Learning Resource Centre and other Computer Rooms, where necessary Give advice to the Senior Teacher in Charge of Wholeschool ICT/Head of ICT to plan for future ICT advances Set up standalone computer systems for specific teaching and/or training situations and functions within the school Assist with the provision of INSET either in a large group or single tutorial mode Maintain the booking system for ICT rooms and equipment Manage the use of portable devices and ensure their security

Records and Administration

Keep an inventory of all hardware, software and consumables Comply with the requirements of Computer Laws including General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Copyright Laws and Health & Safety Act Assist in monitoring of equipment use in line with the e-Safety Policy Contact outside agencies (on school's behalf) concerning ICT facilities and developments within the school The post holder will be expected to maintain an awareness of ICT developments in order to ensure the currency of ICT services within the school

Other Duties

Attend training courses and meetings as required Such other duties as may be assigned within the level of this post

Essential Criteria



A Recognised qualification in ICT or related subject at A-Level A minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent (grades A - C including English and Maths)
Ability to work effectively and flexibly within a team with a flexible can-do approach, self motivation, resilience and willingness to adapt to the changing needs and priorities within the college

Desirable Criteria



A minimum of one years managed network experience within the last three years

Experience of working in a post-primary school Experience of setting up a networked computer system Experience working in a technical support environment
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 30,060.00-31,586.00 per year
