The role of an Imam (Minister of Religion) is essential in providing spiritual guidance, education, and support to the community. The Imam serves as a leader in religious practices, fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among congregants. This position requires a deep commitment to the faith, along with the ability to communicate effectively and educate others on religious teachings.
Duties
1. Lead Prayers:
Lead daily prayers
Lead Jummah & Eidayn prayer and khutba in Arabic and English
Lead Taraweeh prayer during Ramadan
Lead Tahajjud prayer during last 10 days of Ramadan and Janazah or any other occasional prayers.
2. Ta'leem for Children & Youth
Teach hifz al Qur'an Tue - Fri evening from 4.30pm - 7pm
Run weekly halaqa and youth club for Muslim youth
Take part in Qiyam al Lyal, winter Fajr challenge, Winter family Conference and other seasonal programmes.
3. Ta'leem for Adults
Run weekly Tafsir classes
Run weekly Tajweed & Quranic Arabic classes
Run Fard Ayn seasonal classes covering Hajj, Zakat, Sawm, Salah
4. Other Religious duties
Lead dawah work to non Muslims and take part in inter faith work, mosque open days, etc
Lead masjid fund raising campaign
Represent the masjid in external events and programmes
Any other duty commensurate with job role
