Our Travel Training Team at Essex County Council are offering an opportunity for someone, looking to expand their knowledge and develop their current skillset, to join the service as an Inclusive Education Trainer. This is an educational role working with young people and adults with Special Educational Needs, mental health, or disabilities.

We are recruiting Inclusive Education Trainer based in Suffolk, working in Sudbury, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds and surrounding areas. The role focusses on achieving positive outcomes for young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities within the Suffolk area, supporting them in becoming safe independent travellers and enabling them to live richer, more fulfilling lives. You will support young people on a 1-2-1 basis to train them on how to access public transport on designated routes such as their home to school journey.
Role responsibilities will include:

• Deliver Travel Training to clients on a 1:1 basis.
• Visit young people and adults in their homes.
• Develop bespoke training plans for each client, considering their additional needs and complexities of the route.
• Provide ongoing feedback to the client and referrer.
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new organisations.
• Attend events.
• Support the wider travel training team where applicable.

You will have the opportunity to undertake a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training. Achieving this award will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions in a variety of teaching or training contexts.
You will also have the opportunity to complete British Sign Language Level 1 course to help to communicate with our services users. You will be able to:

• Understand and communicate basic conversation when meeting people.
• Ask and answer basic questions regarding themselves and others.
• Understand and produce fingerspelling for names of people and places.
• Recognise and use numbers for example for age, time, dates and money.
• Describe weather conditions.

What you will bring

• Educated to 'A' level / NVQ level 3 within a relevant sector, plus 5 GCSE's A-C (new GCSE 4-9) including English and Math's, or equivalent experience in the field.
• Experience within an SEN or adult social care setting is essential, and you should be able to evidence your passion, energy, and enthusiasm for working within this sector.
• Excellent communicator.
• Motivated to instil confidence in others whilst building strong rapport.
• Highly organised, able to manage your workload efficiently, with good IT skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Essex County Council are delivering Travel Training for Suffolk County Council. You will be working in and across the county of Suffolk. Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
