We have an exciting new opportunity for a Permanent, Full time, Income Management Advisor who will deliver a prompt and effective income management service establishing early intervention to rent arrears and the provision of relevant advice, guidance and signposting.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Ensuring the efficient collection of rent and other charges from tenants whilst taking prompt action to minimise debt, including, legal action to repossess tenancies using a robust pre court action protocol, where necessary
Working to ensure a 'rent first' culture is embedded
Providing advice and assistance to tenants with a view to reducing arrears
Assess financial capability of prospective and transferring tenants, regarding affordability and financial support needs
Assess new applications for tenancies for financial capability and affordability and offer initial advice on Welfare benefits, maximising income and signposting to relevant support agencies and organisations
To monitor rent accounts and sundry debts using the internal system and respond to arrears accordance with policies and procedures.
To make, and closely monitor, sustainable payment plans to repay arrears and / or sundry debts, ensuring that financial assessments are undertaken, and payment plans are made in a timely manner, visiting tenants in their home as required.

You will educated to GCSE grade 4-9 or A-C or equivalent level 2 qualifications in English and Maths and Educated to A level or equivalent level 3 qualification.
You will have good knowledge of welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit and Universal Credit along with working with customer face to face and on the phone to resolve rental queries. You will have experience of dealing with customers in difficult and stressful situations and have experience of working effectively in partnership with external agencies.
