Role Purpose & Impact

Reporting to the Global Indirect Tax Leader, you will principally be supporting the EMEA region, but will also be responsible for assisting in the delivery and execution of indirect tax advice in relation to Indirect Tax compliance and processes across the Group.

In this position you will ensure the global tax strategy is embedded within everything that we do, support management in both risk within EMEA and the interaction with other regions the Group operates in.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities, include:

  • Assisting with consistent implementation of the Groups Tax Strategy and Policies.
  • Collaborating with the Tax COE to ensure VAT compliance, (including review of VAT returns, identifying risks, implementing controls, minimising VAT liabilities and compliance issues and identifying improvement areas).
  • Supervising global VAT registration obligations arising for the business by making digital supplies and ensuring that new tax regimes/DST regimes are implemented in a compliant and timely manner in the region.
  • Ensuring business is kept up to date with changes in VAT/GST legislation/new indirect tax regimes (including implementation of new processes and procedures to adhere to applicable laws).
  • Supporting with implementing VAT controls and seeing chances to create improvements, ensure efficiencies and improve compliance, including UK SAO regime.
  • Carrying out post implementation reviews to ensure continued compliance in respect of any new regimes/registrations, processes or procedures implemented.
  • Providing indirect tax advice and training to commercial and finance colleagues, e.g., answering accounts payable queries and working with the Indirect Tax Reporting team and Indirect Tax Systems Director to ensure this advice is implemented and process improvements are continuous.
  • Partnering with the Tax COE to manage VAT/GST tax audits/enquires raised by tax authorities.
  • Assisting with statutory audits in relation to VAT.
  • Collaborating closely with third party advisors, as required, who may assist in handling all or some of the above. In particular, our third party outsource provider.
  • Assisting all members of the global Indirect Tax team as and when is required.
Key skills/Experience
  • Accredited ACA, ATT, CTA or equivalent Qualified Accountant.
  • Significant experience in VAT accounting/compliance
  • Exposure to taxes outside UK VAT
  • Ability to inspire change and work with others to improve processes and controls
  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize workload and keep to timeframes
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with internal and external partners
