UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC) straddles UCL Computer Science and UCL Psychology. It is a world-leading Centre of Excellence in Human-Computer Interaction teaching and research, studying interactions between people and technology, and working collaboratively with the research community and industry. The Department of Computer Science (CS) is a large department with over 120 academic staff. It is one of the top-rated research institutions in the world, and currently the top recipient of Horizon 2020 funding in Europe. It sits at the nexus of a broad range of inter-disciplinary collaborations across UCL. The role will be primarily based within the UCL Interaction Centre, however, staff have regular interactions with both parent departments regardless of individual affiliation.
About the role

- 6 month Secondment Opportunity.
This is an internal secondment role available to current UCL staff only. It is available as a secondment for 6 months, starting in January 2026.
The Centre Manager will provide a first point of contact for the centre, and lead the administration and management of the Centre, manage support staff in the department, and work closely with the UCLIC Director. We are seeking to appoint a Centre Manager with excellent administrative and managerial skills, a team player who will be a key member of UCLIC staff, working with academic and research staff. They will liaise with the parent bodies in Psychology and Computer Science on all aspects of the effective organisation of UCLIC, including finance, HR and external relations. The appointee will develop and manage department resources to ensure systems and processes are fit for purpose, and that UCL, Faculty and Departmental policies and strategies are implemented at all times.

You will have a proven track record in administration and management within a Higher Education Institution in a complex environment. Candidates will be educated to degree standard or equivalent, or have substantial relevant experience. You will be an established people manager with experience in financial management systems, budgeting, financial reporting, etc. You will be able to work independently, with meticulous attention to detail, and your communication skills will be instrumental in executing the Centre's internal and external communications strategy. This a multifaceted role that combines administrative excellence, strategic thinking, and team leadership, requiring excellent networking skills.
