What the job involves:
Leading and supervising up to 5 Facilities Assistants during weekend shifts, including workload allocation, training, absence management, and team motivation
Managing daily operations and ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for the Main Library's 24/7 user community
Performing regular patrols of the building, liaising with maintenance and security teams to resolve incidents and maintenance needs
Acting as the first point of contact for all building faults, repairs, accidents, or incidents; managing master keys and fire coordination duties
Planning and organising resources, rotas, and logistical movements with a focus on health and safety and operational efficiency

A bit about you:
Essential Criteria:
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team in a customer-focused environment
Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety practices and security in large public buildings
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a positive, proactive attitude
Competence in Microsoft Office and manual handling skills
Ideally, experience in facilities supervision or a similar operational role, preferably within a library or academic environment
Desirable Criteria:
Experience of building security and safety procedures
Relevant Health and Safety qualification (IOSH) is desirable but not essential
