Who we are

Welch Group is a fourth-generation haulier with ?80 vehicles and 100,000 ft of warehousing across Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. We run the UK's first 42-tonne Renault E-Tech electric tractor units, backed by a 150 kW on-site charger, and manage nationwide pallet, contract-logistics and specialist-movement work via the Qargo TMS platform.

We don't just move freight--we move fast on tech, from smart route optimisation to depot electrification.

Why this role matters

Our external MSP handles helpdesk and networking--but we still need someone on the inside who knows where everything plugs in. You'll be the in-house contact for all things IT and systems, supporting our team across three depots and helping to keep our cloud-first operations running smoothly.

From Microsoft 365 to our specialist software stack, you'll help keep systems connected, users supported, and data flowing.

What you'll do

Act as the internal point of contact for all IT-related issues, escalating to our MSP as needed Manage users, devices, and permissions in Microsoft 365 (including Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange) Keep our IT inventory up to date and coordinate kit distribution across sites Support and help administer cloud-based platforms including Qargo (TMS), Clarus (WMS), Aquarius (compliance), and others Document internal IT workflows and provide light-touch training for users Support innovation pilots--whether that's automation tools, energy systems, or telematics integrations Maintain basic site tech (tablets, meeting room setups, digital displays, etc.)

The skills & experience you'll bring

1-3 yrs experience in IT support, system admin, or tech coordination Comfortable managing user accounts, permissions and cloud apps Good documentation habits and an eye for process improvements Calm, pragmatic and great at translating tech-speak for non-tech users Interest in logistics, sustainability or emerging tech (bonus points for tinkering instincts)
