IT Project Engineer

The Role

As an IT Project Engineer at Innovate Ltd, you'll be responsible for the successful planning, deployment, and handover of technical IT projects for our clients and internal systems. You'll work closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients to deliver robust, secure, and scalable solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.

This is a hands-on role. You'll be knee-deep in configurations, rollouts, migrations, and optimisations--while also providing clear communication and documentation that clients and colleagues actually understand.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, design, and implement IT infrastructure projects (cloud, hybrid, and on-prem). Configure, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Endpoint solutions. Design and implement security and compliance measures using

Windows Defender

,

Intune

, and

Endpoint Management

tools. Deliver Windows Server solutions, including deployments, upgrades, and Active Directory services (2022 & 2025). Plan and implement Azure networking components, including vNets, VPNs, NSGs, and hybrid connectivity. Deploy and manage FortiGate firewalls, ensuring high levels of network security and uptime. Configure and troubleshoot

Unifi

networking systems (including switches, APs, and controllers). Deliver Mimecast deployments and email security best practices. Produce high-quality documentation for project plans, technical designs, and handover processes. Collaborate with clients and project teams, ensuring clear communication and expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and evolving best practices.

Skills & Experience Required

You'll need to be genuinely technically proficient and comfortable taking ownership of complex environments. We're not just looking for button-clickers--we want someone who understands what's going on under the hood.
