Purpose of the role:
To assist with IT Reuse process by wiping data, testing and repairing IT equipment and preparing for distribution. Listing products online for selling and ensuring the Reuse Shops are stocked.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure functioning IT equipment is diverted from the waste stream and processed to be put back into use locally, and nationally
Complete important data wiping exercises to a high standard
Run diagnostics and prepare devices for sale
Build devices e.g. installing software, RAM
Provide excellent customer service for the IT Reuse Scheme
Work with collection crews to ensure secure and timely collections of IT equipment
Work with the IT Reuse Manager to prepare suitable items for the Reuse Shop
Listing products on external marketplaces e.g. eBay, Facebook etc including relevant photography. Writing detailed and well researched product descriptions and ensuring product listing are fully competed
Checking, weighing and packing items for posting and recording all information accurately and delivering items to the post office / couriers office
Assisting with the booking in of collections, liaising with customers and potential customers
Sending out collection's agreements and wiping certificates to customers
Cover the driving of the IT Reuse van when required
Ensuring that personal or confidential information is not disclosed to any unauthorised person or third party
Ensuring any personal or confidential data which they process is kept securely
Staff are to remain compliant with all aspects of the Data Protection Act
Essential Requirements for the Role:
Be a self-starter able to work proactively to complete tasks independently
Have an interest and knowledge of IT and tech systems
Have an interest and knowledge of eBay / online sales
Be able to problem solve and think strategically
Be able to communicate with other members of staff, volunteers and the public effectively
Must hold a driving licence
