Our Social Enterprise Team operates to deliver high quality services and facilities, designed to support the diverse array of student communities at Loughborough. Through the development and delivery of LSU's commercial activities, the Social Enterprise Team aims to provide innovative and creative student experiences which deliver greater benefits to both our members and Loughborough Students' Union.
The Venue department provides a diverse and inclusive range of events and entertainments as well as providing space and resources for groups and individuals to host their own events and activities. The department includes bars, entertainments, technical and security services and strives to ensure everybody has the same excellent and safe experience.

Responsible for - Casual JCs Bar Assistants & Team Leaders
To deliver a vibrant, inclusive and financially sustainable JC's Bars Experience, including delivering to agreed income targets. Managing all aspects of the bar, ensuring staff receive appropriate training and follow procedures effectively.
Job Duties
Bar Management:
Produce, implement, & maintain standard operating procedures for JCs bar that meet with all H&S legislation, the licensing law, & all other relevant LSU policies and procedures.
Manage on a daily basis the casual staff team, ensuring that they are fully trained, engaged, and knowledgeable of all the standard operating procedures and processes.
Effectively rota, timesheet and administer the casual staff team to maintain best staffing levels and cost efficiency.
Liaise with other key stakeholders through Social Enterprise Department and wider LSU, to ensure that the aims and objectives of JCs are monitored, developed and regularly reviewed.
Coordinate with external suppliers & service providers as appropriate to ensure the smooth running of the outlet.
Have full responsibility for the stock in the outlet, always ensuring adequate stocking levels, and consumables, and ensuring stocktakes are carried out timely and efficiently.
Responsible for the development and accuracy of the EPOS database and systems, liaising with the Venue Operations Manager and Catering Manager.
Responsible for a set and agreed budget for the outlet and ensuring budgets are managed effectively by delivering accurate reporting and reviewing data, ensuring full adherence to financial reporting procedures, and controlling expenditure lines where appropriate.
Manage the development of menus and promotions relevant to the outlet, working with the catering manager where appropriate, ensuring the offer is always relevant and of excellent quality.
Outlet Development
Work with the Venue Operations Manager and Marketing Director to produce a marketing strategy to attract external and internal customers to the outlet.
Ensure the effective merchandising, marketing and promotion of products in order to maximise profitability
Lead on the provision of literature and POS which will showcase the outlet, working with external suppliers to ensure the material is up to date and relevant.
Work with the Venue team to develop a bespoke and attractive entertainment program which should be varied and all inclusive.
Help develop and implement and promote a customer loyalty program.
Produce and manage a staff induction and training program to cover all aspects of working in the outlet.
Continually monitor the standard of staff performance and take positive, corrective action at all times.
Be responsible for the delivery of excellent customer service and to respond to insight and feedback when developing menus and offerings.
To support and facilitate students and elected officers in improving the student experience.
Work closely with the Catering Manager to create food and drink pairings and promotions suitable to a student audience.
Building Duty Management:
To undertake Duty Management (Union One) duties on a Rota basis whilst on shift, and to be part of the operational support structure as required.
Being a helpful point of contact for a variety of building users, advising, and facilitating, and being the first point of contact for incidents, accidents, or other issues, reporting as necessary.
Supports in ensuring the building and site is secure and providing operational access to the building and facilities as and when required.
Being confident and competent to deal calmly and effectively with demanding situations and security and safety matters.
Ensuring the buildings and spaces are configured and setup in such a way as to be safe and risks minimised at all times.
Co-operating with particular needs during special events including conferences, festivals, open days, and graduation events.
Other Duties
Working productively and collaboratively with colleagues, having sufficient knowledge of their responsibilities and being able to advise in their absence.
Supporting all Social Enterprise departments as and when required
Upholding the Premises License(s) at all times including all its Conditions.
To maintain a good level of knowledge about relevant industry activity and through insight play a role in the development of services.
To take responsibility for personal development and to maintain a high level of relevant knowledge and insight.
Undertake all other duties commensurate with the role.
As Union 1 / Duty Manager you will need to be able to support physical evacuation of customers using refuge points.
Role requires manual handling to manage cellar.

Conditions of service
Salary - Pay scale 7 (28,511 - 31,105)
Hours - This role is contracted for 35 hours per week, worked across 5 days out of 7. Flexibility is essential, with shifts scheduled to meet business needs - including early morning and late evenings.
The appointment will be subject to the LSU's Terms and Conditions of Employment. Benefits
