Working hours:

8:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday with one 30 min break. 40hrs a week.

The Company

Thorp Precast are a forward-thinking construction business with a passion for quality and innovation. We specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke architectural panels and structures.

Due to continued growth and investment, we are looking strengthen our design team and therefore seeking both Junior and Senior Design Technicians.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking for their first opportunity to join an engineering team that designs and implements various large structural projects. We are also open to application from Senior Design Technicians who have previous experience in a similar role and keen to manage small teams.

It is a stable and varied position with an opportunity to gain or enhance skills within the building/construction industry. The successful candidate will receive full training in the use of the Tekla modelling software.

Key role responsibilities:

To play an important part in assisting engineers in many steps of the design process.

To assist in client liaison and participate in meetings.

To collecting and interpret data, researching ideas, run basic functions and equations, create basic models, check and review reports.

The candidate:

This role would suit someone who has recently completed a relevant qualification with a desire to move into a construction/building industry. Alternatively we are open to applications from candidates who have previous experience in a similar role. Will have very good maths skills. Will have a genuine interest and drive to do design modelling and be eager to progress their career within the business. Any previous experience in using modelling software (i.e. SketchUp or other) would be a distinct advantage. Will have practical and problem-solving skills. Will have good communication skills. Will be creative with a willingness to learn. Will be proactive, enthusiastic and not be afraid to lead by example. Must be able to multi-skill, be hardworking and have high attention to detail. Will have a positive 'can do' attitude.
