Junior Design Engineer

to join our expanding team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands on experience across mechanical and systems design, working alongside experienced engineers on cutting edge maritime technology.

As a

Junior Design Engineer

, you will support the mechanical and systems design activities across a range of high performance maritime projects. Working within a multi disciplinary engineering team, you'll contribute to the design and integration of mechanical subsystems, composite structures, and fluid routing systems.

This role offers exposure to the full design lifecycle from early concepts through to manufacture, testing, and integration, while developing strong practical engineering skills in a fast-paced and innovative marine environment.

Key responsibilities



Support the mechanical design and detailing of subsystems such as hatch mechanisms, locks, hinges, jigs, and fixtures Assist in creating composite manufacturing data, including ply books, laminate drawings, and mould geometries Contribute to the routing and integration of hydraulic, propulsion, and water system components Participate in rapid prototyping and 3D printing for design validation and fit checks Collaborate with senior engineers, production teams, and technicians to ensure practical, cost effective, and manufacturable designs Help prepare engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation for release through PLM systems Support design reviews and engage with manufacturing teams to resolve build and integration issues

Essential qualifications, skills and experience



Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Competence in 2D and 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawing creation Understanding of design for manufacture (DfM) principles for composites and metallic components Basic knowledge of material selection, tolerancing, and mechanical fit/function Strong attention to detail with good problem-solving and practical design skills Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset within a technical team

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience



Experience designing small-batch or prototype components (marine, automotive, motorsport, aerospace) Competence in Siemens NX, with exposure to Teamcenter PLM and/or Simcenter Nastran advantageous Understanding of marine mechanical design, systems integration, or marine engineering principles Familiarity with composite materials used in lightweight structures Awareness of PDM or MRP systems for managing design and manufacturing data Hands-on workshop, fabrication, or testing experience
