We are a leading independent trade book publisher based in London, with a diverse publishing list and a team of around 70 staff.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their IT career to gain experience across a broad range of systems and technologies. Reporting to the Systems and IT Development Manager, you will provide first-line support to internal users, assist with system administration tasks, and work closely with our external IT support provider on escalations and projects.
You'll be exposed to a range of platforms including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Apple macOS, and will play a key role in keeping our technology operations secure, stable, and efficient.
Duties
Provide day-to-day IT support for internal staff (onsite and remote).
Set up and maintain desktops and laptops (Windows and macOS).
Administer our user network including working with Active Directory and Microsoft 365
Administration of our Windows Server environment
Assist with the development and maintenance of company cybersecurity strategy
Manage hardware and software inventory and assist with procurement and lifecycle management
Maintain documentation of systems, procedures, and configurations
Monitor IT systems for issues or alerts and escalate where appropriate
Liaise with our external IT support partner on complex or large-scale tasks
Help to ensure IT security best practices are maintained (updates, antivirus, user access control)
Assist with the maintenance and development of our bespoke Publishing software systems
To contribute to the development of our Cloud and AI strategies.
Requirements
Relevant qualifications and experience
Strong interest in IT and willingness to learn
Understanding of Windows operating systems and basic troubleshooting
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
Exposure to macOS in a mixed environment
Good organisational and communication skills
Comfortable working in a user-facing role and responding to helpdesk requests
Basic knowledge of networking concepts (IP, DNS, DHCP)
Flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges as they arise.
