You'll offer support to users, who can be staff, clients, customers, and suppliers, and troubleshoot any problems. In some cases, this may involve designing new networks.
Your aim is to ensure the integrity of high-availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for your users.
Although this position is primarily an engineering role, you must have a flair for sales and be able to successfully demonstrate the company's products at exhibitions and to customers as and when required.
Key Tasks:
Evaluate new networking technologies/environments, including software and hardware
Monitors the performance of networks and makes recommendations concerning network quality.
Create customer and site-specific profiles and provide troubleshooting services to customers and users
Ensure network security, report on, investigate, and fix network faults
Design network Topologies and write user and operational documentation. Provides subsequent support and training for users.

Detailed Responsibilities:
As a network engineer, you'll need to:
Establish the networking environment by designing the system, installing of software, configuring, and testing
Undertake Wi-Fi Surveys and make recommendations on where to locate access points
Design, implement, and project plan new solutions and improve the resilience of the current environment
Maximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation
Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources
Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access
Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
Report network operational status by gathering and prioritising information, and managing projects.
Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware/software releases
Installing/removing software on Linux/Android/Windows-based devices.
Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice service, and firewalls.
Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers. Visit the remote site where necessary.
Using Wireshark and other tools to monitor TCP/IP streams where necessary.
Get access to debug logs where necessary
Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centres.
Trace and Debug application software, especially in relation to SIP Endpoints
Liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers, and service desk engineers on a regular basis
Speak to customers via email and phone for initial requirement capture.
Salary and Holidays:
The starting salary will be 25 per annum based on a 37.5-hour week and will rise in accordance with experience

Working Hours:
You'll typically work a standard week (Monday to Friday - 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM. However, you may be on call outside office hours, at weekends or in the evenings, and you will need to be flexible in case of major technical problems occurring.

The work is primarily office-based, although you may need to work across different remote sites
The job can be challenging, particularly when things go wrong, as customers are dependent on their systems
Qualifications:
A degree qualification in at least one of the below related subjects is required:
Computer science
Computer software/computer systems engineering
Computer systems and networks
Electrical/electronic engineering
Network security management
You will be expected to do further study (Self Learning and further professional qualifications)
