We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant / Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting both our food and drink kitchen operations.

The job will be 37.5 hours, 5 days per week, spread over Mon-Sat (we are closed Sundays and Bank Holidays)

The job is a varied role within our 2 storey Coffee House on Fleming Square (there are stairs so it will keep you fit!)

Food Kitchen Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including washing, chopping, and measuring. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area and end of day cleaning. Follow food safety guidelines to ensure high standards of hygiene. Making sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and other meals. Manage time effectively to ensure tasks are completed promptly during busy periods. Assist with stock management, including receiving deliveries and storing supplies. Building up to eventually cover the chef's day off.

Barista Duties

Creating a welcoming atmosphere, taking customer orders, and offering recommendations. Preparing drinks on our La Cimbali Espresso machine. Grinding coffee beans into cafetieres. Cleaning tables, maintain cleanliness of work areas, coffee machines & equipment and end of day cleaning. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service. Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently. Weighing coffee beans and loose tea in the front of the shop. Collaborate with team members to maintain the friendly work environment.

Qualifications

Previous experience in food preparation or as a barista would be preferred but not essential as full training will be given. Good time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, friendly & dynamic environment. Have a passion for coffee, tea & food or a willingness to learn! Someone who is punctual, reliable, self motivated and works well in a small team and will happily use a mop!
