Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our Chef and Hostess in delivering high-quality food services. The successful candidate will play a vital role in meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment. Prior restaurant or kitchen experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided. The Kitchen Assistant supports the chef mostly in the kitchen to ensure residents receive nutritious, well?presented meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This role involves food preparation, light cooking duties, cleaning duties, stock rotation, and assisting with meal service throughout the day.

Responsibilities



Breakfast Support



Assist with breakfast service, including plating, serving, and supporting residents as required. Carry out the full breakfast clear?down, ensuring all equipment, surfaces, and utensils are cleaned and stored correctly. Serve food to the residents in a courteous and professional manner

Food Preparation



Support the chef with daily lunch preparation tasks. Prepare items for suppertime such as sandwiches, peeled vegetables, and other components as directed by the chef. Follow all instructions given by the chef to ensure meals are prepared safely and to a high standard. Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment

Deliveries & Stock Rotation



Assist with receiving deliveries, checking items, and storing them appropriately. Maintain organised and clearly labelled storage areas. Help with stock rotation, inventory checks, and restocking supplies as needed

Cleaning & Hygiene Duties



Carry out general deep cleaning of the kitchen in line with the scheduled rota. Complete daily cleaning tasks including: Emptying bins Sweeping and mopping floors Cleaning surfaces, equipment, and food preparation areas Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment Maintain high standards of hygiene and follow all food safety and infection control procedures.

Supper Service



Set up supper trolleys with all required items, ensuring accuracy and presentation. Serve supper to residents in a polite, respectful, and efficient manner. Wash down the kitchen after supper, leaving the area clean, tidy, and ready for the next day's operations. Serve food to the residents in a courteous and professional manner

Skills & Attributes



Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is advantageous but not mandatory Basic knowledge of food preparation and safety standards Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to different tasks within the kitchen setting A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential for success in this role Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow instructions accurately. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards. Understanding of food hygiene and safety procedures (training can be provided). Comfortable with manual handling tasks such as moving stock.
This position provides valuable experience in the hospitality industry, offering opportunities for skill development in the care industry, food safety, and customer service.

This role will be 3 days in week 1, and 4 days in week 2, including every other weekend.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 12.50-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 34.5 per week
