Job Description

The Hengist Restaurant is in the heart of Aylesford village, and reopened in May 2024 with new owners and management team.

With a restaurant, two bars, and outside seated areas, we are recruiting for various positions within our kitchen team to work alongside our talented Head Chef.

If you are a motivated individual with a passion for hospitality and teamwork, we have opportunities available that may align with your skills and interests.

We particularly welcome applicants with previous experience however this is not necessary for all roles.

Roles available:
- Kitchen porter

Cleaning and Sanitation

Washing dishes:

Collect and wash all dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and other cookware.

Kitchen areas:

Sweep and mop floors, wipe down and sanitize work surfaces, walls, and kitchen equipment.

Deep cleaning:

Perform deep cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and other storage areas as needed.

Waste disposal:

Empty and dispose of rubbish and recycling safely.
Food and Ingredient Handling

Food preparation:

Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables or other ingredients.

Deliveries:

Receive, unpack, and correctly store food and equipment deliveries in designated areas.

Organization:

Keep the storeroom, refrigerators, and freezers tidy and well-organized.
Operational Support

Support chefs:

Provide overall support to the kitchen staff and chefs as needed.

Equipment maintenance:

Report any issues with kitchen equipment and maintain its cleanliness.

Health & Safety:

Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring proper food handling, storage, and sanitation.

Inventory:

Help with managing supplies and performing basic inventory checks.
