Job Description

We are looking for an experienced cook/chef who can provide nutritious and appetising food for our residents.

Park House Rest Home is an established, good rated (CQC) residential care home for up to 17 residents, including those with dementia. Our residents have varying dietary needs so knowledge and experience of cooking for people with special diets is incredibly important.

Our ideal candidate would have a passion for traditional home cooking including baking and pastry skills, along with a desire to be creative and provide delicious, well-balanced meals which will appeal to our elderly residents and enhance their dining experience.

MAIN DUTIES

To manage the kitchen on a day to day basis

To assist in the planning of appetising menus providing a balanced, nutritious diet, making the best use of fresh foods as available

To prepare, cook and serve breakfast, lunch and tea and snacks to meet residents' dietary needs

To provide special diets where necessary as well as taking into account the preferences of individual residents

To manage and assist with the cleaning of the kitchen and its equipment

To maintain food safety checks and records as per company requirements and adhere to all food hygiene and safety standards

To manage the delivery and storage of food and drink and control the stock of dry goods and freezer cabinets including stock rotation whilst maintaining acceptable stock levels

To monitor the quality of food and food provision through appropriate means, such as surveys, audits, observation and meetings

To supervise and train junior staff

To attend staff and resident meetings and training sessions when required

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Previous cooking experience in a care home setting is preferred

QCF/NVQ II in Food Hygiene is essential
