Salary: \xc2\xa375,900 per annum

Join the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Technology team as a Lead Software Developer. You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Pharmaceutical Press\'s publishing software, systems, and customer-facing digital products. Beyond their technical expertise, they will offer valuable supervision and guidance to the team, ensuring the establishment and upkeep of development processes and work practices.

Requirements:

  • Leadership and team building skills, with the ability to create a shared vision, delegation of responsibilities and the development and motivation of team members.
  • Practical experience in system design, development, testing and operational stability.
  • Deep understanding of software design, code quality, technical debt, cost of ownership.
  • Ability to gather non-functional requirements, propose architectural options and evaluate trade-offs.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in Python and its ecosystem, patterns and pitfalls.
  • Experience of working in an agile environment and an understanding of Scrum principles in particular.
  • Experience applying continuous delivery, test driven development and pair programming.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies, such as React JavaScript (or Angular or Vue.js with a view to using React).
  • Experience writing and consuming RESTful APIs in Python.
  • Experience with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, API gateways, S3).
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work, and work to deadlines.
  • Good communication, negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to provide clear explanations and technical guidance to non-technical audience.
How we are currently working

RPS supports and works in a hybrid way which means you will be able to work from home. However, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working, on average and typically, this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office.
